Telecom data handed over, what’s next?
The Lebanese security apparatuses concerned with investigations regarding the assassination attempts that targeted Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea and MP Boutros Harb will be able to reveal whether or not the attempts’ planners used mobile phones during their arrangements for the crime. This will be possible thanks to the telecom data that was handed over to the security apparatuses.

Top security sources stressed that Information department, Army intelligence and public security received the telecom data and kicked off their investigations in this regard.

The sources told LBCI that the people involved in Geagea and Harb’s assassination attempts may have avoided using mobile phones since they know that the data can reveal their identities.

In this context, security apparatuses’ leaders expressed, during a meeting with President Michel Sleiman, their relief for receiving the full telecom data. It has been agreed to send a security judicial delegation headed by Judge Choukry Sader to European countries, including France to review the laws and latest technologies in the field of telecom data.
