How do Syrian refugees live in Bekaa schools?

Dozens of families live in schools in the town of al-Marej in Bekaa, after they fled the war in Syria. Three families stay in one room if necessary and very bad conditions the refugees have to live in as long as security is maintained.    

In this context, the region’s officials noted that the assistance the refugees are receiving comes from Arab funds, civil society committees and municipalities, not to forget the aid offered by the residents of the town, amid the absence of the Lebanese government.           

Member of “Lebanon First” bloc, MP Jamal al-Jarrah stressed that the government is absent and is not providing the Syrian refugees with any assistance, especially in Bekaa. He added that the government offered little help in the Northen regions, but then it received a“Syrian order” urging to stop assisting the refugees, “so the government abided by it”.            

Meanwhile, the assistance provided to the refugees remains less than the necessary living standards, as the majority of the families do not expect to return soon to Syria.                

A few months earlier, the war was a fun game for the children, while today it has become a painful reality.
