Nashar to LBCI: Hijab’s defection is the beginning of regime’s collapse
Member of the Executive Committee of the Syrian National Council Samir Nashar said on Tuesday that the defection of Syrian PM Riad Hijab constitutes a significant turn in the Syrian crisis, and the "beginning of the political system’s collapse".

In a statement to Nharkom Said, Nashar revealed that one of the top ministers, belonging to the Alawite sect was planning to defect and leave Syria, and that he contacted the Syrian National Council, however, the circumstances have not yet allowed this step to take place. He stressed that “the developments of the events and the clashes in Damascus and Aleppo influenced the ministers, army officers and civil servants”.

Nashar confirmed that the Syrian National Council received only 15 million dollars for assistance, noting that in case the Syrian Army launched further attacks on Aleppo,  many defections will follow.
