Well-informed sources revealed that that current tour of US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Satterfield is the last one, adding that he wishes during the talks with Lebanese officials to receive a final and clear answer as to the indirect negotiations with Israel in terms of land and maritime border demarcation in the south.
The sources told LBCI that Lebanon has to inform the US side whether or not it wishes to separate the land from the maritime demarcation and be satisfied with the issue of the maritime borders, as well as the timetable of the negotiations.
The same sources explained that the failure to reach an agreement between the Lebanese and Israeli sides concerning the border conflicts could have negative repercussions on the oil and gas sector in Lebanon.
