Erslan says there is no religious council for the Druze sect, but a party’s council

Lebanese Democratic Party chief, MP Talal Erslan stressed Thursday that they remain open; reiterating that what happened in Aley last Sunday was premeditated.

In a statement to LBCI, Erslan said that opening fire in air by the convoy of Minister Saleh al-Gharib was only normal when confronted with a blocked road and burning tires.

He also commented on the decision taken by the families of Rami Salman and Samer Abi Farraj to hold the funeral, stressed that there is no exchange.

Erslan reiterated that what happened was a clear crime and an armed ambush, within the framework of civil peace and state security.

He noted that there is no sectarian council for the Druze sect, but it is a party’s council.

Meanwhile, Erslan received a phone call from Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim and agreed to meet with him in the afternoon in Khaldeh.
