The parliamentary session held on Tuesday witnessed a commotion after Prime Minister Saad Hariri withdrew, due to a dispute over a draft law on building a dam in the region of Donnieh. Hariri returned shortly and joined the session, during which the disputes draft law was passed and the deputies gave the Justice Ministry a one0month deadline to form a committee tasked with investigating the matter.
The main dispute was fueled when MP Ibrahim Kanaan objected to a decision by the cabinet to return a draft law related to credits required to complete projects in Mount Lebanon, noting that this would cause losses, because of penalties.
MPs Samy Gemayel and Eddy Abillamah backed Kanaan’s stance, while Hariri said that this draft law has a high cost amid the budget discussions.
