The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) raided a grotto in Al Bireh Mountain – Rachaya  on Tuesday and seized a bomb, machine guns, mobile phones, helmets and sleeping bag. 

On Monday evening, the Army's Directorate of Intelligence had arrested, near al-Qaa border crossing, a pickup truck driven by a Lebanese citizen and transporting 5 Syrian nationals who had been illegally residing in Lebanon.             

The Directorate also seized from the truck military equipment, ammunition, grenades and communication devices; investigations with the detainees were immediately launched by the concerned judiciary.            

In this context, the Lebanese Army Directorate declared that, in light of the efforts deployed by the army to fight drug cultivation and manufacturing, and according to previous information received by the directorate of intelligence, an army unit stormed on Monday at dawn, a drug warehouse in the region of Hammoudiyeh, Baalbek, where 70 kilograms of different kinds of drugs were seized along with 20 truckloads worth of hashish. In addition, the army confiscated weapons and ammunition.         

The army forces are still pursuing the suspects in order to arrest them and refer them to the judiciary.
