Small light breaks into Naher al-Bared camp's darkness

Since the end of the battles which erupted in Naher al-Bared camp between the Lebanese Army and Fatah al-Islam militants years ago, the camp turned into a waste dump and a major area for security and intelligence operations.

The traces of the clashes which took place five years ago are still manifest at the outskirts of the old camp. However, along the streets, even at a slow pace, repair works were launched where poverty, unemployment and school dropout dominate.

On the other hand, away from these tragic scenes, the national institution of social care and vocational training, "Association Beit atfal al soumoud", which is working on finding a solution for the crisis that the camp's residents are living through, held a graduation ceremony for 15 Palestinian youths who trained in photography and plumbing.
