Land Transport Unions issue the government a deadline before taking to the streets

The issues and demands of the Lebanese Federation of Land Transport Unions were brought back to the limelight on Thursday, after members represented their demands at a meeting held at the headquarters of the General Labor Confederation.

Among the demands is a call for the reevaluation of the law that exempts customs duties and registration fees of imported cars. The union also called for the determination of a precise ceiling for fuel prices.

The attendees agreed on granting the officials a one-month deadline to deal with their issue, or otherwise face a strike.

The Lebanese Federation of Land Transport Unions called on PM Najib Mikati to hold an urgent meeting with the ministerial committee in charge of following up the land transportation file, in order to discuss the steps to be adopted to meet the demands agreed upon and make the necessary contacts with concerned ministers.
