Calm returns to Tripoli after LAF's deployment

Calm returned to Tripoli following the deployment of the Lebanese Army units in the city on Tuesday afternoon after a ceasefire between Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen was declared.

Residents were relieved and welcomed the deployment of the LAF in their neighborhoods as the streets were teamed with life again.

Earlier, clashes renewed in Tripoli since the early morning hours whereby rocket-propelled bombs and medium weapons are being used especially in Shaarani, al-Bakkar, al-Malouleh, and al-Tabbaneh from one side and Jabal Mohsen from the other.               

For the second consecutive day, schools in the region remain closed as roads in Tripoli's region were reopen with the exception of the Malouleh-Beddawi road which links the city to Akkar and the Syrian border.                          

The above mentioned road was cut-off due to sniping which was targeting passing cars on the Malouleh's bridge.

Prior to the deployment of the LAF, sniping operations erupted between Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen, causing the death of citizen Waad Abdel Karim Mazloum of Jabal Mohsen.       

Media Spokesman of the Arab Democratic Party, Abdul Latif Saleh, told LBCI that 5 victims fell since the beginning of the conflicts in Jabal Mohsen.                

This as the Islamic Charitable Hospital in Tripoli said that the toll of the wounded rose to 23 since Monday night, with 4 left for dead.
