Alfa: 4G-LTE to be launched in 2013

Alfa telecommunications which operates under the management of Orascom telecommunications said on Thursday that the company has ended successfully its first lab test on the 4G technology.

The company said in a statement that speed tests reached 100 Mbit/Sec.

The company added that in conjunction with the success of the first lab test, Alfa Company will soon launch a pilot phase on the 4th generation technology 4G-LTE lasting over a span of 3 months and distributed throughout 20 sites in Beirut.

"The 4G-LTE technology will be officially launched in 2013," the statement added.

For his turn the CEO of Alfa, engineer Marwan Hayek said that the success of this experiment is considered a major shift and an introduction to a promising stage for the telecommunications sector in Lebanon.
