Dr. Mona Kanj released after ransom reduction

Dr. Mona Kanj was released on Thursday, after being kidnapped from outside her house in al-Mouchref.

Sources told LBCI that negotiations were conducted between the kidnappers and Kanj's husband, and agreed to reduce the ransom to 300 thousand dollars. After reaching this agreement, the Dr. was released.

The security forces interrogated the husband was said that he did not pay any ransom, raising doubts and leading the security forces to launch an investigation in the case.

On Wednesday at around 8 AM, as Mona's husband was on his way back home driving his BMW X5, 3 unknown gunmen attacked and tied him up.

The gunmen made their way to Kanj's villa and kidnapped Dr. Mona and her housekeeper.

The kidnappers then left the housekeeper and Mona's husband in his X5 in the Bshamoun area, and then fled to an unknown destination.
