PSP delegation visits Geagea in Maarab

A delegation from the Progressive Socialist Party headed by Public Works and Transportation Minister Ghazi Aridi visited Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea Wednesday as part of an effort to narrow differences among rival political parties and to hold talks to solve pending issues.      

Following the meeting, MP Strida Geagea, who also attended the discussions, told reporters that talks with the PSP remained positive.     

She explained that the Lebanese Forces grasped the concerns of the PSP especially in light of the region’s "delicate and volatile situation."        

"Geagea said that differences in opinion do not imply a rupture between the PSP and the Lebanese Forces. We have discussed all the major issues during the talks," the MP said.     

In turn, Aridi stressed that this meeting was part of the initiative of the PSP to get in touch with all parties in Lebanon.     

"Our talks were candid, deep and touched on all the main issues," Aridi said.          

The minister admitted that there were some differences with the Lebanese Forces over some matters but assured that this was normal.     

"The most important thing is to keep the channels of communications among all Lebanese open. We have to hold talks in a bid to address the fears of each group," he said.           

Aridi underlined the importance of preserving stability in Lebanon and protecting the country from regional turmoil.           

He insisted that dialogue is the only means to solve differences, urging all parties not to remain headstrong in their positions.
