Taliban calls for new Afghan constitution

The Taliban Movement called for the amendment of the Afghan constitution for it to be fully in line with the Islamic law (Chari’a).

Taliban considered that Afghanistan’s current constitution is valueless “since it was drafted in light of B-52 warplanes and occupiers,” in a clear reference to the American-led NATO coalition which topped the Taliban regime in the end of 2001, a month after the 9/11 attacks.

The Movement stressed its need for a new constitution which would be based on the sacred foundations of Islam, national interest, historical achievements and social justice.
