Fishermen stage sit-in in Tripoli’s Al-Mina

Tripoli’s Al-Mina fishermen staged a sit-in in the fish market’s courtyard in protest of what they described as “the chaos of fish import” which, according to them, is causing major financial damage to fishermen and their interests.

The head of the Cooperative Association of Fishermen Ahmad Akra said that the current import process harms the northern fish market, especially since it is not subject to customs.

In turn, the head of Al-Mina Fishermen Syndicate Ismail Akra said that “the tremendous damages are due to the large quantities of imported fish, mainly those that enter Tripoli’s port.” Akra called on the Prime Minister and the concerned ministries to take immediate action in this regard.
