REPORT: Qobayat elections expected on March 3

Two years and eight months after Qobayat's municipality elections, the municipal council was dissolved due to the resignation of many of its members. In the details, the resignation was caused by a dispute between the council's president Abdo Abdo and MP Hadi Hbeish over the president's mandate duration.

In this regard, elections this year will take place on the third of March. 60% out of 8,000 voters are expected to participate as per two lists: "my land is my identity" list headed by Abdo Abdo and " the cherished Qobayat" list headed by MP Hadi Hbeish. It is noteworthy that "my land is my identity" list broke the rule stating that elections should be held between March 8 and March 14.

Last Saturday, both lists were unveiled, paving the way for a "battle" between the Free Patriotic Movement and the Lebanese Forces.
