Somali gunmen kill female radio journalist

Colleagues and witnesses said on Monday that Somali gunmen killed a female radio journalist in Mogadishu.             

Rahmo Abdukadir, worked for the private radio station Abduwaq, and was shot dead late Sunday by 2 men.           

In this context, the radio station director Abdikarin Ahmed said: “one of our female staff members was shot and killed in Mogadishu". 

This incident is not the first of its kind in Somalia; at least 18 media workers were killed in 2012 (double the worst year on record and second only to Syria).

Abdukadir is the third journalist to be killed this year. No one has been charged with the killing of Abdukadir or her predecessors.
