Geagea: Elections require neutral cabinet

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea greeted on Sunday the Lebanese people on the occasion of the Easter Holiday, stating that the cabinet’s resignation was a “small gift” for the occasion.

In this context, Geagea told Free Lebanon radio station that the elections should not be called off stressing the need to form a neutral government capable of ensuring the electoral process.

“The next cabinet must include economic experts who can address the current economic situation in the country,” he added, pointing out that caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati may be appointed as premier-designate.

However, Geagea said that the cabinet’s resignation may help easing the tensions prevailing over the country.
