Maronite Bishops: Lebanon is not an experimentation field

Following their monthly meeting, the Maronite Bishops called on Lebanese politicians not to use the people as fuel for the fire of political wranglings, adding that the country will not remain safe if one party tried to impose its will over the other.

In a statement issued and read by Bishop Samir Mazloum, the Maronite Bishops Council stressed that “a government not based on nationalism, the constitution and a unified vision is like a home left in ruins and is doomed to collapse.”

"Lebanon should not be used as a field for experimentation and is not a tool to carry out the plots of foreign countries."

The sovereignty of the country should be safeguarded and the dissociation policy must be thoroughly applied, Bishop Mazloum said.

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai had presided the Council of Maronite Bishops held at Bkerke, with the participation of Cardinal Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir.
