MP Aoun: Christians must unite to restore their rights

Head of the Change and Reform bloc, MP Michel Aoun said on Tuesday that compromises will be made in order to approve the hybrid electoral draft law, noting that reaching a Christian national consensus over a draft law does not happen "every day".

Following the bloc’s weekly meeting, Aoun stressed that a major concession from the Christians will take place in adopting a law other than that of the Orthodox Gathering, calling on the Christians to "unite in order to restore their rights".

“We still have 24 hours before the General Authority session and we call on all the parties that have agreed on the Orthodox Gathering law, which is expected to be the only item on the session’s agenda, to keep their word,” Aoun added, pointing out that the Change and Reform bloc will have another stance toward "the other parties" after the vote.
