Driver thrown 20 meters from bridge after truck crash

A truck was left dangling over the side of a motorway bridge in Melbourne, Australia, on Friday after it flipped over and threw the driver 20 meters onto another road below, local media reported.              

According to police, the vehicle was involved in a collision with a car shortly after 6.30 am local time (2030GMT).              

The driver, believed to be in his thirties, was found by a nearby factory worker and later assisted by paramedics.          

He suffered serious head and pelvic injuries and remains in a critical condition at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, according to media reports.                  

One witness, who did not give his name, said he was shocked that the driver had survived.            

The accident caused major delays during the peak hour in Melbourne.
