Kanaan to LBCI: Opposition seeking to target FPM for electoral reasons

The secretary general of the Change and Reform bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan said on Tuesday that the opposition is not seeking to hold the government accountable, it is rather seeking to target the FPM for electoral reasons.

In a statement to LBCI ahead of the discussion session, Kanaan wondered: “If they do not want to cast a vote of confidence then why they came in the first place?”

Kanaan confirmed that the Change and Reform bloc will keep fighting until carrying out reform.

Commenting on the overspending issue, Kanaan explained that President Michel Sleiman asked to meet him to get clarifications on the amendments introduced by the Finance and Budget Committee to the 8.9 trillion LBP decree, pointing out an attempt to blackmail the parliament over the overspending issue.
