Gladis Samaha to LBCI: My husband is an honorable man, his hands are not bloodstained

Gladis Samaha, the wife of former Minister Michel Samaha, stressed Wednesday that “her husband’s hands are not bloodstained,” stressing that he in no way can be compared to Islamists and Takfiris who boast criminal records.

In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Samaha praised the judicial system, which she said is currently treating the former minister in a respectful manner, noting that “Michel Samaha is an honorable man and is held under the conditions of the prison.”

Gladis Samaha’s remarks came as a response to MP Khaled al-Daher’s statement, whereby he said that the detained former Minister Michel Samaha is currently held at a “private suite,” while the dignity of the Sunni detainees in jails is being insulted.

Former Minister Michel Samaha was arrested on Thursday 9th of August by the Internal Security Forces’ Information Branch on suspicion of involvement in a plot to carry out terrorist attacks in Lebanon in collaboration with Syria.

He was charged by the government’s deputy commissioner at the Military Tribunal on 11th of August 2012, alongside Syrian National Security Bureau head Ali Mamlouk and a Syrian army officer identified as Brig. Gen. Adnan with plotting to assassinate political and religious figures in Lebanon and carrying out terrorist attacks.
