REPORT: Order of Physicians says Nader Saab is licensed to practice plastic surgery

The Order of Physicians in Beirut said on Tuesday that Dr. Nader Saab was validly licensed to practice plastic surgery and that his hospital was certified to operate according to a Cabinet decree.

"Unlike what has been circulated during the past few days, Dr. Saab is registered at the Order with a license to practice general medicine under number 4580/2000 and a license to practice plastic surgery under number 8552/2004, both issued by the Ministry of Public Health," the Order said in a statement.

"Dr. Nader Saab Hospital is also certified to operate as per decree number 12798 issued by the Cabinet on 3/7/2004," the statement added.

It also noted that the Order had previously decided to suspend Dr. Saab twice as a temporary measure against his advertising for his work and not following a medical fault, adding however that Dr. Saab appealed the decision before the court.

Farah Qassab, an Iraqi national, died last week after undergoing a plastic surgery at Saab's renowned hospital. in the region of Naccache.
