EU's Ashton arrives to Beirut from Arbil

European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton arrived on Monday night to Beirut from Arbil, a city in Iraqi Kurdistan.

In this context, the EU Ambassador to Lebanon Angelina Eichhorst along with the Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Mira Daher received Ashton at the Beirut International Airport.

Earlier in the day, al-Joumhouria newspaper reported that Ashton is scheduled to meet with high-ranking Lebanese officials. Talks are said to focus on several issues including the influx of Syrian refugees into Lebanon and the repercussions of the long simmering Syrian crisis on the country.
