MP Aoun: Attack on LAF soldiers was programmed

Change and Reform bloc head MP Michel Aoun said on Tuesday following the bloc's weekly meeting that the convened members tackled Sidon's latest incidents.

MP Aoun thanked the "wise men" who defended the army institution following calls for Sunnites to defect from the army.

He said that Sidon's clashes were a direct reaction to Sheikh al-Assir's "programmed attack on the Lebanese army in Abra."

MP Aoun said that the incidents which reaped the lives of 17 LAF troops will be not forgotten.

He also slammed the call of MP Saad Hariri to extend the mandate of the army Commander Major General Jean Kahwagi, saying that the LAF's sacrifices must not be a price for extending the term of the army chief.

MP Aoun concluded by saying that investigations must be launched to arrest the perpetrators of the deadly attack against the LAF.
