Kataeb: Baabda Declaration prevents spillover of regional events into Lebanon

         
The Kataeb party political bureau called on Monday to take into consideration the reports stating that Lebanon may turn into "a proxy field for illegal arms and a safe haven for Takfirist groups", and to addressing this "propaganda" through the adoption of preventive security measures aiming at detecting and dismantling active and dormant terrorist cells.           

During its weekly meeting, the politburo urged the Lebanese parties to preserve a calm political climate in order to control security breaches and to commit to the Baabda declaration to prevent the repercussions of regional events from affecting internal stability.                       

The Kataeb party also warned against void in the military or political leaderships, since that may lead to complete political vacuum on several fronts. The party called for saving the cabinet formation process from all conditions and foreign dictations and forming a government capable of facing the exceptional current situation, praising President Michel Sleiman's call for the resumption of national dialogue.
