Eichhorst says EU's decision does not justify any attack against Lebanon

Following her meeting with Hezbollah's International Relations official Sayyed Ammar Moussawi, the EU Ambassador to Lebanon Angelina Eichhorst said Thursday that the European Union condemns any attack targeting its territories, noting that its decision is a "political message" sent out to Hezbollah's military wing.

"The EU decision does not justify any attack whatsoever, not even from the Israeli side, against Lebanon," Eichhorst added.

In turn, Moussawi said that the EU decision is regarded as a "humiliation" to all the people related to the Resistance, stressing that the EU has bowed to the condition set forth by both the United States and Israel.

The European Union placed the military wing of the Lebanese party Hezbollah on its terror list on Monday in a major policy change toward the Middle East.

The EU's 28 foreign ministers reached the decision unanimously at their monthly meeting, swiftly swaying the last nations that had any doubts.

It came after prolonged diplomatic pressure from the United States and Israel, who both consider Hezbollah a terrorist organization.
