Second Cypriot plane arrives to Lebanon, provides assistance to extinguish raging fires

 
A second Cypriot plane arrived on Thursday to Lebanon in a bid to contribute in extinguishing the fires that erupted few days ago in several Lebanese areas, the state-run National News Agency reported.    
     
This assistance comes as a result of the contacts made by caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour with Cypriot authorities via Lebanon's ambassador to Cyprus Youssef Sadaka.             
On another note, the head of Lebanon's Higher Relief Committee Ibrahim Bashir arrived to al-Danniyeh upon the directives of caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati in order to follow up on the efforts to extinguish the fires.             

The fire which is affecting several areas in and throughout Akkar, specifically the Sfirreh area is being described as the worst in Lebanon’s recent history.                 

The fires have damaged dunums of orchards and farmlands as well as forest sites. It broke out in the hills of Akroum in Lebanon’s northeastern region of Akkar spreading to Wadi Khaled as temperatures rose and winds accelerated.  As for the estimated damage, they were put at 260 dunums of land.
