Blast hits Hezbollah zone, UNIFIL denies sending inspectors

A strong explosion was heard near Tyre on Tuesday around midnight in a rugged area located between the town of Siddiqin and Jabal al Batam.     

The nature of the blast remains unknown.      

Information made available to LBCI confirmed that the blast occurred in the rugged and uninhabited area of Khillat Saleh, which is likely a military zone controlled by Hezbollah.    

UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti denied that a UNIFIL delegation was sent to inspect the explosion site.           

Tenenti confirmed that UNIFIL does not hold any information on the blast and maintains contact with the LAF.      

In turn, Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Nawwaf al-Moussawi said that investigations into the Tyre blast are handled by the security  apparatuses, highlighting Hezbollah’s support for the apparatuses’ role in preventing any attempts to destabilize the country.     

Moussawi told Nharkom Said TV show that it is important to steer clear of speculations, saying it is better to await the results of the investigation, instead.       

Responding to whether Hezbollah is investigating the incident, Moussawi said that “the Party is responsible, in one way or another, to protect against any threat posed to the resistance’s readiness or to Lebanon’s security.”

In a statement Hezbollah said that the information spread by media outlets that Tuesday’s blast which occurred in the surroundings of Siddiqin is related to a Hezbollah owned armory are false and ill-founded.
