Wildfire erupts in Chouf, causes huge damages

A large wildfire erupted on Saturday in the Lebanese towns of Wadi al-Deir and Kfarhim in Chouf, threatening hundreds of nearby houses.

The fire first erupted in Wadi al-Deir and stretched to the town of Kfarhim, causing huge damages in acres of forestland and orchards.

Meanwhile, members from the Civil Defense, the Internal Security Forces and a number of families worked on extinguishing the raging blaze while reports cited short circuit as the reason behind the fire incident.

The wildfire also affected the region of Bekaa, setting a warehouse of the Liban Lait company ablaze and causing huge material losses.

Over the past week, fires erupted in numerous regions across the Lebanese territories such as the northeastern region of Akkar, specifically the Sfirreh area, causing damages to dunums of orchards and farmlands as well as forest sites.
