Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam denied rumors and reports that had been circulating in the past few days on the formation of a new government.

Following his meeting with President Michel Sleiman, Salam said that “a cabinet will eventually be formed "at any given time" but will not be a ‘fait accompli’ government”.

This as Salam held a meeting at the Baabda Presidential Palace with President Sleiman with talks featuring high on the latest consultations over the formation of a new government.

Earlier, Sleiman held a meeting at his summer residence in Beit Eddine with the Turkish ambassador to Lebanon Inan Ozyildiz whereby they tackled the efforts being exerted in order to release the two abducted Turkish pilots, the state-run National News Agency reported.

President Sleiman also called on Turkey to exert tireless efforts in a bid to release the Lebanese hostages held in Syria’s Aazaz.

Separately, Sleiman met with a delegation headed by Future bloc MP Mohammad al-Hajjar who supported the President's calls to maintain Lebanon’s stability and unity.

President Sleiman also held a meeting with former deputy Prime Minister Issam Abou Jamra with talks featuring high on the current developments in the country.

As well, Sleiman met with Kataeb bloc MP Fadi al-Haber and tackled the outstanding political issues.

On Friday the 9th of August, gunmen intercepted a Turkish Airlines' bus at the Cocodi Bridge in Beirut and kidnapped two crew members, a pilot and a co-pilot. The bus carrying the crew members was heading from the Beirut International Airport towards a hotel in Ain El-Mrayseh.

The incident triggered a chain of reactions mainly from the Turkish side, the most prominent being the call launched by the Turkish foreign ministry on its nationals to leave Lebanon.
