Damascus grants Hariri, Saqr and Meqdad 10 days to turn themselves in

Saudi “al-Watan” Newspaper reported on Wednesday that the First Criminal Court in the Syrian capital Damascus gave former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, MP Okab Sakr, and the political coordinator for the Free Syrian Army leadership Louay al-Meqdad, a deadline not exceeding 10 days to appear before the court.

The three officials are accused of “providing money and weapons to armed terrorists in Syria, in addition to moral support, incitement and guidance leading to the killing of civilians and security forces.”

The newspaper noted that according to a document issued by the First Investigation Judge in Damascus, those deemed “accused” by the Syrian regime should turn themselves in, in a deadline which extends to a maximum of 10 days, or otherwise be considered fugitives.

The document added that the third court session will convene with or without their presence, and the verdict will be issued accordingly.
