New US ambassador arrives to Beirut

The United States embassy in Beirut declared on Thursday that the newly-appointed ambassador to Lebanon David Hale arrived to Beirut after the US Senate agreed on a assigning him on the 1st of August.           

Upon his arrival, Hale said that “he returns to Lebanon at a time when the region is facing serious security and political challenges,” noting that the Lebanese people remain committed to preserving independence, unity, prosperity and security.       

Hale added that his duty as an ambassador is to guarantee the US Embassy remains Lebanon’s partner in deploying efforts to build “strong institutions capable of achieving the Lebanese people’s goals.”             

On another note, caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel met with the US charge d’affaires at the US embassy in Beirut, Richard Mills, and discussed with him the latest developments including the issue of the Syrian refugees and its social, economic and security burdens.
