Mikati invites Pope to visit Lebanon

PM Najib Mikati held a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI on Monday during which they discussed the situation in Lebanon, bilateral ties, the Christians’ situation in Lebanon and the Muslim-Christian dialogue.

Mikati earlier met with Italy’s Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata in his residence and discussed Lebanese -Italian ties.

Mikati also met with Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Bertone.

Sources close to the premiere told the AFP that Mikati invited the pope to visit Lebanon next year.
