Protesters cut-off Karak-Zahle road for second consecutive day to protest abduction of local pharmacist

Family, friends and affiliates of pharmacist Wissam al-Khatib cut-off on Tuesday the Karak-Zahle road for the second consecutive day to protest the abduction of the local pharmacist.

Kidnappers of pharmacist Wissam al-Khatib demanded on Monday a ransom of $1 Million US in exchange for his release; however, residents of Maallaka-Karak responded to the kidnappers' demand by cutting off the main road of the city.

The state-run National News Agency reported on Sunday that unknown armed men kidnapped a pharmacist on Sunday morning in the city of Zahle.

The agency added that Wissam al-Khatib was abducted while he was opening his pharmacy located on the main road of the town of Karak.

Al-Khatib reportedly escaped an attempt to kidnap him a month ago.
