Bassil: Oil exploration works will continue

Caretaker Energy Minister Gebran Bassil conducted Wednesday a tour in the city of Batroun where the British geological surveyor Spectrum has started a ground scanning, declaring that Lebanon will not halt its mission in oil exploration.

“It is regrettable that a foreign ambassador [in reference to the British ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher] is helping the country build a better future, while the Lebanese people complain and block roads, preventing Lebanon from pursuing a promising and prosperous future in the oil field,” Bassil said.

The caretaker minister added that the oil exploration is being carried out according to the international law and within the framework of the Lebanese law and the recognized standards.
