Speaker Berri lauds international efforts to maintain stability in Lebanon

Speaker Nabih Berri met on Friday with the Director of the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia at the World Bank Inger Andersen who handed him a World Bank report on the Syrian crisis’ economic and social repercussions on Lebanon, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Speaker Berri praised the international efforts being exerted to maintain Lebanon's stability and assistance offered to Syrian refugees, adding however that "these efforts remain insufficient”.

He also stressed the need to work for holding the Geneva II conference in order to broker a political settlement for the Syrian conflict, which “ensures the return of displaced persons to their homeland."

"Lebanon is doing its utmost to help the Syrian refugees regardless of the dire economic situation," Berri said.
