Judge Saqr studies file of Roumieh's explosives smuggle attempt

State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr received on Tuesday the file containing the results of the preliminary investigations with the arrested men involved in the Roumieh prison explosives smuggle attempt.

Judge Saqr is set to study the file before moving ahead with the prosecution.

A Unit of the Internal Security Forces Information Bureau took on Monday morning one of the Fatah al-Islam prisoners, identified as Abou al-Walid, from the Roumieh prison in order to interrogate him over Roumieh explosives smuggle attempt.

Another prisoner identified as Abou al-Tourab, who had initially refused to accompany them, was also taken for investigations.

On the 3rd of October, security sources told LBCI that investigations were launched over a security personal attempting to smuggle 150 grams of explosive material inside a sandwich into the Roumieh prison.

Sources added that the explosives were intended to be delivered to prisoner Charbel Chalita, adding that such materials were smuggled inside the Roumieh prison, mainly to Fatah al-Islam prisoners.

State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr interrogated Charbel Chalita, while security forces inspected his cell.

On the 21st of November 2012, Examining Magistrate Judge Ziad Makna demanded in his indictment the death penalty against the killer of 22-year-old Roland Chbeir, who was murdered on October 28 by his friend.

Judge Makna accused Charbel Chalita of committing a premeditated crime.

Chalita had confessed earlier of committing the crime for financial reasons.

Chbeir went missing on October 24 after Chalita lured his friend to an empty area in Jbeil on allegations that he wanted to sell him a piece of land, then he shot him twice in the back.
