HIC convenes at Tripoli’s Dar al-fatwa

Mufti of Tripoli and the North Sheikh Malek Chaar said on Saturday that the incidents taking place in Tripoli are not based on religious or sectarian backgrounds, pointing out that some factions declared their alliance to foreign forces; thus, targeting the prestige of the city.          

In this regard, Mufti Chaar called for adherence to the Baabda declaration with respect to Tripoli, adding that shedding the blodd of Tripoli’s residents is unacceptable.                          

Following a meeting for the Higher Islamic Council (HIC), Mufti Chaar called for pursuing and penalizing all those involved in attacks against the city.
                 
Chaar added that authorities should control the situation in Tripoli, stressing that the residents of Tripoli support the state institutions and are all under the law.                    

For his part, Vice President of the HIC Omar al-Meskawi noted that the latest appointments at the HIC did not serve the Muslims, expressing his concern over the escalating situation at the mentioned institution.        

Meskawi added that the structure of the institution should be renewed in order to find a solid ground between all its branches.
