Demonstration at Central Bank, several arrested

A number of arrests were made when protestors angered by the soaring cost of living took to the streets on the main Hamra thoroughfare facing the Central Bank building. Several youths brandishing communist flags and shouting anti-capitalist slogans were rounded up and interrogated for nearly half an hour before being released.

Among other things, they demanded full medical coverage and hospitalization for all. They also called for national currency protection with some of the protestors trying to block the traffic.
