UCC postpones Tuesday's strike due to security situation

The Union Coordination Committee (UCC) said on Saturday "the date to hold a strike previously scheduled for Tuesday the 26th of November, will be deferred due to urgent security circumstances," noting that another date will be set by the committee in a meeting to be held next week.

The UCC had called for a strike in order to end the months long disruption of the constitutional institutions' work and to pass the pay scale draft law, mainly after "the current salaries do not last longer than a few days".

The attendees urged all political forces to revive the work of constitutional institutions, and most importantly to hold parliamentary meetings and to form a new government in which all parties are represented.

In this regard, they called on the people to be adamant on Lebanon's stability and civil peace, voicing rejection to calls for strife.

The attendees also confirmed that all public sector employees and teachers in private schools have the right to the salary rate percentage that was granted to judges and Lebanese University professors.
