Abdullah Azzam Brigades: Hezbollah's Hassan al-Laqis killed in Iranian Embassy attack in Beirut

The Abdullah Azzam Brigades that had claimed responsibility for the attack that targeted the Iranian Embassy in Beirut, posted an audio recording whereby Sheikh Sirajuddin Zureiqat claimed responsibility for the killing of Hezbollah official Hassan al-Laqis, stressing that the latter was killed in the embassy attack.

The brigades also published photos of the suicide bombers who implemented the attack.

A double suicide attack targeted on Tuesday, November 19 the Iranian embassy in south Beirut’s Bir Hassan region, killing at least 23 people, wounding 146 and damaging buildings in the embassy compound.

However, Hezbollah leader Hajj Hassan Hawlo Al-Laqis was assassinated Tuesday the 3rd of December outside his residence in the Saint Therese neighborhood in Al-Hadath while he was on his way back from work. 

In a statement issued by the party’s press office, Hezbollah accused Israel of carrying out the assassination, adding that Al-Laqis had previously survived various assassination attempts. 

According to reports issued following the incident, 4 men ambushed al-Laqis in the parking of the building where he resides, shooting him while he was still in his car.
