LF leader Samir Geagea: Cedar Revolution will continue to thwart strife

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea held a press conference in Maraab in which he condemned the assassination of former Minister Mohammad Chatah.

He also noted that Lebanese leaders cannot deal with the murder as an isolated incident, wondering if Chatah's assassination helps in fighting Takfiris.

Geagea stressed that Chatah's assassination is part of the killings targeting March 14 figures, noting that the Cedar Revolution will continue in order to thwart strife.

Geagea stressed that the assassination will not hinder the trials of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, the formation of a new government and the presidential elections.

Former Lebanese minister Mohammad Chatah, who opposed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, was killed in a massive bomb blast which one of his political allies Saad Hariri blamed on Lebanon's Shi'ite Hezbollah party.

Friday's attack also killed five other people and threw Lebanon, which has been drawn into neighboring Syria's conflict, into further turmoil after a series of sectarian bombings aimed at Shi'ites and Sunnis over the past year.
