Assiri condemns Haret Hreik blast, deems it criminal act

The Saudi ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awad Assiri condemned Friday the explosion that targeted the Haret Hreik region of Beirut Southern Suburb, describing it as a criminal act.

Assiri stressed that terrorism can only be fought through a Lebanese national agreement between rival parties, calling on media outlets to abstain from mobilizing the public opinion and to seek calm.

A powerful explosion shook southern Beirut, a stronghold of Hezbollah, on Thursday 2nd of January, killing at least 4 people and injuring over 77 others. The explosion took place in al-Arid Street in Haret Hreik near Jawad restaurant only meters away from Hezbollah's political council, sources said.
