Tripoli’s senior figures, Father Sarrouj tackle al-Saeh library incident

A meeting was held on Saturday at the office of former Internal Security Forces (ISF) Major General Ashraf Rifi with talks featuring high on the attack that targeted Tripoli’s al-Saeh library.

The meeting was held in Tripoli in the presence of Sheikh Ali Hajar, a delegation of the city’s high-ranking figures as well as the owner of al-Saeh library, Father Ibrahim Sarrouj.

Over one week ago, unknown assailants set fire to a famous library owned by Father Ibrahim Sarrouj in the northern city of Tripoli, after reports claimed that the father had published an article deemed insulting to Islam.

Al-Saeh Library is considered one of the most renowned libraries in Tripoli and the second largest in Lebanon.

The attendees said they are adamant on overcoming Tripoli’s incident, stressing that the northern city will always call for coexistence.

They have also agreed to follow up on this issue in other meetings.
