Introduction to the evening news 18-12-2011

Syria remains silent after 24 hours of the Arab League’s decision to raise the Syrian file in front of the United Nation Security Council. Both Qatari and Omani Foreign Ministers revealed on Sunday night that President Assad may sign and approve the Arab initiative to accept the observers’ deployment in his country.

In Egypt, ongoing clashes for the third day in a row between protestors calling for the resignation of the newly formed military government and the Egyptian Army caused more than 15 deaths and 500 injuries.  

In Bahrain, Bahraini security forces launched tear gas bombs on Shiite protestors gathered at one of Manama’s entrances for four days in a row.

On the other hand, the last American soldier left Iraq today leaving the country in a political vacuum; PM Nouri Maliki suspended the Sunni Vice PM.

On the Lebanese scene, sources revealed that the meeting between Aoun and Sleiman did not have a positive reflection on the political life. The administrative appointment’s file is still pending as well as other critical issues.
