Geagea says not optimistic about Syria’s signature of protocol

Lebanese forces Leader Samir Geagea said on Monday that he is not optimistic about Syria’s signature of the Arab observer plan.

“Events on the ground have gone beyond the signature [of the observer plan]; the Syrian people want to change the regime,” Geagea told Asharq station.

Geagea also commented on the recent Bkerke meeting, saying that the electoral law was not tabled during the meeting.

The LF leader praised Speaker Nabih Berri’s reaction on what was agreed upon during the meeting, describing it as “realistic.”

In his concluding remarks, Geagea stressed that discussions with his allies are ongoing to tackle the electoral law issue, adding that such issues are discussed behind closed doors.
