LBCI responds to media campaign launched against it

 
In response to what appears to be an organized slander campaign targeting the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI), and which includes false accusations and spreading altered contents of pending lawsuits filed before the Lebanese judiciary, LBCI has decided to provide an answer to the fabricated allegations, using legal evidence and facts to justify its position:           

1. The session of the Court of Urgent Matters in Keserwan held on 23-1-2014, which discussed two pending lawsuits with PAC, regarding alleged infringement and temporary advanced payments, was not meant to define LBCI’s stance, since LBCI had declared its position on 20-12-2013, but was dedicated instead to determine PAC’s stance.          

2. The equipment and machinery said to be smuggled by LBCI from the PAC building, are the property of LBCI according to an agreement brokered between LBCI and PAC.         

3. There is no legal guardian for the assets of LBCI; therefore the judge at the Court of Urgent Matters in Beirut rejected the request filed by the Lebanese Forces in this regard on 28-6-2013.                               

4. The amounts due to LBCI by PAC, as well as the amounts allegedly due to PAC by LBCI (which do not exist), constitute a subject of an arbitrary dispute presented by LBCI before the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris.                          

5. The dues owed to PAC employees, who were laid off, are the responsibility of PAC, which was liquidated upon a unilateral decision issued by its parent company Lebanese Media Holdings Ltd. (LMH).                     

Although PAC committed to the payment of the said dues in accordance with an agreement brokered with the employees at the Labor Ministry two years ago, the company has not yet fulfilled the obligations included in the agreement.           

On the other hand, LBCI has since been assuming its ethical and moral responsibilities toward the employees and has been deploying every effort in order to restore their rights.
