Nahhas: plan to be approved today with 861,000 LBP as minimum wage

Labor Minister Charbel Nahhas announced on Wednesday that his wage plan, despite the delay, will be approved during Wednesday cabinet session, a move he intends to offer to the Lebanese as a Christmas gift.

“The minimum wage will be 861,000 LBP,” he elaborated.

Nahhas told Voice of Lebanon that he expects that his proposal will draw support at cabinet in accordance with the law, as he said “we are unwilling to breach the law as they have been doing for the last 15 years.”

“The increase in numbers will also include 17% on the first bracket”, he said, rejecting the increase on school and transportation allowances.

In his concluding remarks, Nahhas highlighted the full coordination with his allies, voicing hope that the ministers will unanimously approve the plan.
